About Coaching    With Jules Heavens CPCC   

Have you ever needed a 'listening ear' to talk something through to gain clarity and insights, or simply needed to blurt and let go before you can establish your feeling for the way forward?  Have you wished for someone who will pay attention and really listen to you,  who will  combine support and challenge without their personal agenda being involved, and who knows you can solve 'it' if you are given the space, time and appropriate  encouragement and compassion? Someone who believes in you, when you may not.  That's a coach.

We all need, at times, the space to think/feel our way through a decision about our life: a career change, a dissatisfaction with our relationships/lack of relationships, a creative project we keep putting off or that vision we finally wish to follow. Often when we make moves towards these aspirations our 'inner critic', or a myriad self-doubts and/or limiting beliefs step in to prevent us living, doing and believing in these aspirations, restricting our ability to live truly fulfilling lives. Or sometimes we simply get swamped by routines and general day-to-day needs, so that time moves on, and after years have passed we realise that our inspirational ideas still lie on the back shelf covered in dust and unexplored...That's when coaching is a useful and motivational ally, to take steps, to make changes, transform habitual patterns and become more of who you truly are.. to follow your dreams and heart, to step into YOUR LIFE the way YOU wish to live it.... 

Coaching is about learning and growth, change and transitions, remembering, realising, awareness, accessing the wisdom within and building on your courage to create the life you dream for. These can, and sometimes do all happen without coaching. However, through the coaching process our learning becomes deeper and more conscious; we become better informed about our selves and aware of who we truly are, rather than being stuck in our old patterns and ways. This informs and provides us with more choice in how we then continuously create our life. Values, along with balance and fulfillment, are at the core of my coaching. When these foundations are established, forward actions become more sustainable from their aligned motivation. So action-setting and the accomplishment of external goals may be part of the process, however coaching with me includes so much more...

One question I am often asked is what is the difference between therapy and coaching? To answer this simply and succintly, it is about where the focus is predominantly placed and the role the professional takes. Therapy has most of its focus on the past - what happened, and how it affected you. Coaching focuses predomintantly on the present and future. Therapy tends to view the client as having a problem, coaching tends to view the client as having the solutions. The therapist is trained as an expert to give advice, professionally trained coaches are experts in the coaching process, however they generally do not give advice to their clients on which choices or actions to take.

 I am a fully qualified and accredited 'Co-Active' coach (CPCC), trained through  CTI (Coaches Training Institute) and have been coaching individuals and leaders, both within organisations and privately for many years. The style of my coaching is an holistic one (Full Spectrum), which can encompass most, if not all, aspects of your life. My intent is to support and facilitate your journey to remember, reveal, live and be who you truly are - exploring the gifts and creativity you have to offer this world - for you to be the best you can be in and for the world...
